Treatments

All Ages

Phase One

Ever wonder if your child might need braces? In unique circumstances, more than one round of orthodontic treatment is needed. Phase One treatment helps guide jaw growth, create space for adult teeth, and prevent bigger issues later on. This is usually performed between the ages of 7-11. This is why the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children see an orthodontist at the age of 7. For those patients who need Phase One treatment, this early interceptive treatment can mean less time in braces down the road, possibly prevention of permanent tooth removal—and a smoother path to a confident smile.

Teens

The teen years are the most common time to start full orthodontic treatment. Whether it’s braces or clear aligners, we create plans that fit their lifestyle and deliver results they’ll love. We also keep an eye on facial balance, soft tissue esthetics, bite alignment, airway health, and proper jaw relationship, not just straight teeth. We prioritize facial and smile aesthetics instead of only focusing on how teeth fit together. We can’t wait to show you the difference orthodontic treatment can make in your teen.

Adults

Been thinking about fixing your smile for years? Maybe you had orthodontic treatment when you were younger and have noticed things you don’t love or maybe things have moved? You’re not alone—and yes, adult orthodontics is totally a thing. We offer subtle, efficient treatments that seamlessly integrate into your routine without disrupting your daily life. With our availability throughout Central Utah, it’s more convenient now than it ever has been to make those changes you're hoping for. It’s never too late to start orthodontics and you may be surprised what changes we can actually make in your smile.

Braces

Pitts 21 Pro

We proudly use the Pitts 21 Pro system—one of the most advanced braces technologies available. This self-ligating bracket system offers more precise control, faster movement, and smoother finishes with fewer adjustments. It’s designed to create wide, natural-looking smiles while keeping treatment efficient and comfortable. This is one of the fastest growing treatment approaches in the world for orthodontic treatment because of the incredible esthetic results it allows the orthodontist to create. Lucky for you, Dr. Tuttle was trained directly by the innovator of the Pitts 21 Pro bracket system, Dr. Tom PItts.

Ceramic

Want something more low-key? The Pitts 21 Pro bracket also comes in a clear Ceramic material. These clear braces blend in with your teeth for a more discreet option that still delivers the same powerful results. They work just like metal braces but with tooth-colored brackets for a cleaner, more subtle appearance. Ideal for teens or adults seeking a polished and professional appearance during treatment.

Clear Aligners

Looking for a way to straighten your teeth without the brackets and wires? Clear aligners might be the perfect fit for you. These custom-made, removable trays are nearly invisible and work by gently shifting your teeth over time—no metal, no fuss, and no one has to know you’re wearing them.

At Hometown Orthodontics, we can confidently treat most orthodontic cases with either braces or clear aligners. There are massive upsides to using clear aligners. Aligners allow you to eat what you want, brush and floss like normal, and still make real progress toward the smile you’ve always wanted. Most importantly, as technology and orthodontic techniques have improved, aligners can now be used on much more complex problems than historically thought. Maybe you’ve always wanted to do orthodontic treatment but were told you weren’t a candidate for aligner therapy? Not the case anymore. Aligners can successfully be used on most orthodontic problems.

Growth Modification

Most people think of orthodontics as just “aligning teeth.” Although that is part of the story, orthodontists are also trained in craniofacial growth. Orthodontists are truly the experts in dentistry at managing how the jaw grows at young ages. Sometimes, there are more needs than just alleviating crowding or aligning teeth. Growth modification uses special appliances to guide jaw development in growing kids, helping fix bite problems, improve facial balance, and even support airway health. It’s most effective during the younger years, when bones are still developing, which is why early evaluation is so important.

At Hometown Orthodontics, we use trusted appliances, such as the Herbst Appliance, to gently encourage proper jaw growth. This approach often helps avoid more invasive treatment when kids are done growing and creates space for a smoother, more efficient orthodontic journey later on. Maybe you’ve been told your child needs surgery and think it might be overkill? Let us take a look and see if growth modification is an option for your child.

Retainers

Once your braces or aligners come off, retainers help keep everything in place. They’re the final (and super important) step to make sure your new smile stays right where it should be. Whether it’s a removable or fixed option, we’ll help you find the right type of retainer for your lifestyle.

Wearing your retainer as directed prevents your teeth from slowly shifting back over time. It doesn’t take much—just a little consistency to protect all the hard work you’ve put in. We’ll show you how to care for it and when to wear it, so your smile stays just the way you love it.

Non-surgical Orthodontics

Some bite problems used to require surgery, but not anymore! Thanks to advanced techniques such as orthodontic miniscrews and skeletal expansion, we are able to treat even complex cases without surgery in many situations. These options allow us to move teeth and guide bone structure with incredible precision, right here in the clinic. Orthodontic problems such as Gummy Smiles, lower jaw prominence, or narrow palates in adults can not be treated without the need of surgical intervention.

At Hometown Orthodontics, we focus on creative, modern solutions that deliver significant results with minimal downtime and reduced risks. Dr. Tuttle utilizes tools and techniques that aren’t commonly available in other rural clinics, providing you with access to high-level care without the need to leave town.

Hard & Soft Tissue Shaping

Creating a great smile isn’t just about straight teeth—it’s about balance, proportions, and detail. That’s why we include contouring of both the teeth (hard tissue) and the gums (soft tissue) as part of our finishing touches. These subtle adjustments can make a big difference in how your smile looks and feels.

Whether it’s refining the shape of a tooth or evening out the gums for symmetry, we use gentle, precise techniques to give your smile a more polished, natural look. This extra step sets our results apart, and it’s part of the detail-focused care we’re proud to offer.

Airway-Minded Orthodontics

Orthodontics isn’t just about looks—it can also play a big role in how well you breathe, sleep, and feel. Airway-focused orthodontic treatment helps identify and address issues that may contribute to snoring, mouth breathing, or poor sleep, particularly in growing children. Newer techniques are also becoming available to provide improvements in adults too!

By guiding jaw growth and creating more space for the airway, we can often help improve breathing patterns early on. Dr. Tuttle uses a thoughtful, whole-health approach to treatment that goes beyond straight teeth. Because when you breathe better, you live better—and that’s something to smile about.

Technology

Digital Intra-Oral Scanner

No more goopy impressions! Our digital intra-oral scanner creates a quick and accurate 3D model of your teeth, without any mess. We use it to plan your treatment, track progress, and even preview your future smile. It’s fast, comfortable, and way more fun than the old-school way.

Digital X-Ray

Our low-radiation digital X-rays provide a clear view of what’s happening beneath the surface, including roots, jaw structure, and developing teeth. The images appear instantly, allowing for quicker evaluations and less time spent in the chair. Plus, they’re safer and easier to store for long-term care.

Digital Photography

We take high-quality digital photos of your teeth, bite, and facial profile to help plan your treatment and track your progress along the way. These images are a key part of how we track changes and ensure everything’s moving just right. They’re also great for those before-and-after moments you’ll want to share!

Let’s get you smiling!
